Still lost in thought, Jemima didn't notice or hear when Exotica had gotten up to answer the door. She was still imagining 'puppy' Tumble. An image that had gradually turned her lips into a smile. It was hearing Tumble's voice yet again, that had snapped her out of her daydream. She sniffed, clearly unsure if she should continue to hide in Xottie's den, or come out and face her embarrassment head on. Slowly Jemima got off of the chair she sat on, wrapping the blanket tightly around her. It felt almost like a shield, as only her feet, eyes, forehead and nose poked out of the sheet. Jemima at least owed Tumble and apology and an explanation. But she could barely make it to the door. She did, but reluctance and fear followed her every step of the way. Jemima did peek her blanketed head out of Xottie's door, though was thankfully mostly covered by Xottie standing intimidatingly in front of her. Jemima found her throat to be too dry and she said nothing, she simply listened to what was being said.

Exotica's right ear twitched slightly at the mention of Jemima. It should'nt've been hard to smell Jemima had come to her den, but maybe when someone runs it's a little harder to catch scents all the time. She had smelled the rat, but glanced down when he had to look at it. It wasn't a bad size, in her opinion. But why would he laugh? What reason would there be to laugh at food, or was it that: the food, the fact that he was acquiring a snack for them, but she had run away because she was embarrassed? She hummed softly to herself and narrowed her eyes slightly as she was attempting to figure out the situation. Her ears then folded back and she glanced slightly back behind her. Understanding that Jemima had come up to the entrance. "Well, I am not Jemima's keeper. But why would you leave her alone and let her be insulted by Lucifer?" she asked.

Tumblebrutus felt as if his ears were burning, and knew that all the discomfort and embarrassment he felt must be being clearly broadcast for the world to see. But he couldn't help it. Was, then, the whole Junkyard going to know Tumble as the bumbling idiot who couldn't even treat a queen right? And for the offended queen to be sweet, sensitive Jemima of all people! He tried to calm down, reminding himself that four cats was hardly "the whole Junkyard," and Exotica was waiting for an explanation, and Jemima was there listening - that must mean they didn't completely despise him yet. But he felt that the situation was very precarious, and any wrong wording could make Jemima burst into tears and Exotica banish him from her den.
Taking a deep breath, he tried to explain as well and concisely as he could, while causing Jemima as little embarrassment as possible. "I freely admit I acted foolishly in this matter. Whilst Jemima and I were searching for food, she...well, stumbled upon Lucifer, quite by accident, but he was offended and spoke rudely. Then he suddenly became remorseful and walked away before there was much chance of reaction." He paused, sighing inwardly. This must have all sounded ridiculous to Exotica. But he pressed on, "Jemima seemed quite upset by the encounter, but more concerned for Luce than for herself and... Well, it entered my head that it might help if we tried to make amends with Lucifer. That was when I went to find him, intending to return in a few moments, but..." He trailed off, feeling a complete idiot. Conscious that Jemima was still there listening (though all he could really see was a bit of fur and oddly-shaped blanket), and not wanting her to feel like they were discussing her as if she wasn't even there, he made a point to address her, "Jemima, I am so sorry to have left you at such a moment. I...understand if you would both like me to leave now," he added, speaking to both of them, "but I wanted to see you were all right, Jemima, and apologize for my thoughtlessness." Truthfully, he could think of several good reasons for acting as he had done, but they would probably just sound like excuses. Besides, all he cared for at the moment was to not have anyone upset because of him; anything else, he was fine letting go for now. Though he still definitely planned on murdering Grumbus later. Who'd have thought one tom's advice would get him into this...

Jemima stood there, unsure of what to say, and uncertain of what to do. She had made it this far, and any backtracking would send the wrong message, wouldn't it? But how could she explain why she left? She couldn't put into words her feelings, no matter how hard she tried to herself, let alone someone else that made her tongue feel like it was tied into knots. Even if she could...would he understand? Jemima's eyes looked to the ground, but do to her position and the fluff of the blanket, she only saw to the midsection on the blanket.
Could she do nothing right?
Apparently, she didn't need to say anything. Exotica had spoken up for her, and if she wasn't in front of Tumble she may have hugged the queen for it. Jemima got the distinct feeling Xottie's protectiveness had little to do with her and more for a general dislike of toms, but the black calico preferred to think the chocolate queen was being protective of her. It made her feel a little bit better about herself, the situation, and how she had acted. Her features fell behind the blanket, when Tumble began to recite what had happened and Jemima's role in it...like she wasn't even freaking in front of him!
She began to worry at her bottom lip with her teeth, as she listened to him. By his accounts, she was in the wrong and had been unfeeling where Lucifer was concerned. She didn't remember it that way. Didn't apologizing to the surly tom openly show she had been in the wrong and made amends for it? He walked off! Jemima inwardly steamed. Lucifer left not from guilt...he...he didn't accept her apology. He was rude even after she apologized. Then suddenly, Tumblebrutus faced in her direction, looking right at her, or rather the blanket and addressed her. She was taken aback, with his eyes on her again, she was left mentally untying her tongue to speak.
"I...I...I.." Jemima was shivering, her nerves wracking her body and she suddenly knew she didn't want this conversation. Jemima couldn't forgive Tumble, when she couldn't forgive herself for her behavior. While she backed up and back into the den, away, her foot got tangled in the blanket and she gasped and squeaked when she first started to tip. "XottiE!" Jemima shrieked in panic as she fell backwards, and hit her head hard on the ground beneath her.

Exotica listened to what Tumblebrutus said, but stiffened halfway through. Remorseful? "Remorseful? Lucifer? You cannot be-" she began to say, getting infuriated when Jemima cried out for her. In the time since the incident, Exotica had acquired rapid-like skills, and used them now as she whipped around and dove into her den as Jemima hit the floor. "No!" Exotica growled, holding up a hand to Tumblebrutus to stop him. "Go get a healer." She turned back to the calico and gently brushed back her mane. "Jemima? Can you hear me?" she said softly.

Watching Exotica's face, Tumble realized quickly that he was making a mistake even trying to explain the situation to her. Now he'd muddled the whole thing. He hadn't wanted to sound like he was making excuses, but that's exactly what he ended up doing. Why hadn't he just given the two queens the rat to share, apologized without trying to explain, and left? Idiot. Idiot, idiot-- His self-beratings were interrupted when Jemima all at once fell to the floor.
He gasped, and would have instinctively jumped inside the den to help - nevermind good manners - but was stopped by Exotica. At first he was angry - never mind what she thought of him, there was an injury here! - but then she told him to get a healer, and he realized the good sense in that. They shouldn't move Jemima, so what else could they do but bring someone to her?
"Right," he breathed, "be right back." And then I'm clearing out of here. What good am I doing...none. In fact one might say he'd inadvertently caused Jemima a head injury. Maybe even a concussion.
He hurried away to look for Jennyanydots.
[EXIT Tumble for now] ((where is Jenny at the moment, x2?))

Jemima hadn't felt the hit, not at first. It was just something that happened. She had fallen to the floor, and suddenly she was getting a wide-eyed view of the top of Exotica's den. Her mouth fell open and the haze of Exotica in her vision hadn't even caught up to her brain just yet. She did take in a shaky breath, and that was when the pain came. It hit her so suddenly that her first reaction was to get up or to bring her paws up to her head. She did both at the same time, and not only did she get suddenly dizzy, Jemima cried out in pain yet again, and fell back down to the floor. The second thud jarred her injury and she whimpered. Jemima's focus was out of whack, but she did finally registered Exotica hovering over her. "Xot-Xottie?" Her voice was soft and strained.
((Jennyanydots is currently in the thread "All In (Clinton/Open)".))

Exotica sighed with frustration, shook her head and grabbed a pillow that was in her lounging spot, and slipped it gently under her head. "Yes, it is me, Jemima. And with the way you are cringing, you must have a nasty head lump. Do not move and just breathe slowly," she said, but then paused for a moment before continuing, "Tumblebrutus has gone to find Jennyanydots." She didn't know much else to do with a head injury. "Jemima, tell me what you are feeling."

Jemima did feel some panic, she had never fallen and hurt herself as badly as she felt now, before. And the few times she had scrapped a knee or twisted an ankle, Coricopat, Tantomile, or Jennyanydots had been there helping her. To not have any of those faces near her while the pain in the back of her head spread through her, and compounding her pain with a brand new headache on top of everything else. She did try to take Exotica's advice and breathed in slowly. "It...hurts." She immediately looked to Exotica, her eyes growing heavy. "I'm...feeling...pain in the back of my head...a headache on top of it, and I'm...a little sleepy." Jemima kept her eyes on Xottie. "I'm....going to be okayyy, right?"

Jemima feeling sleepy sounded like she should do that, but she had wondered through enough human life to understand that wasn't a good idea. "I am not sure, Jemima, I am no healer. But I suggest we continue talking about how you feel. Besides your head, how do you feel below your chin?" Exotica continued, "you must keep talking to me until Jennyanydots comes to look you over."

Jemima's eyes grew heavy and she closed her eyes. She did feel suddenly so drowsy. Sleep did sound so good, and that's all Jemima wanted to do. "I...don't wanna..." Jemima slurred out. She wasn't pouting, but there was definitely a sorrowful tone in her voice. She did stiffen at Exotica's continued voice. "My chin...??" The black calico was confused and couldn't focus enough to answer her. Though one name did come across her ears and Jemima grew more puzzled. "Jenny....b-b-bbut where's Tumblebrutus?"

Exotica sighed and shut her eyes, seriously, why do others not listen properly? "Jemima, you have to listen to me. Hitting your head and getting sleepy is not a good combination. I sent Tumblebrutus to find Jennyanydots to help you, you smacked your head really hard, and I am not sure whether you have a concussion or not. You have to keep talking and stay awake. Now, tell me how you feel below your chin. Can you feel your neck, shoulders, chest, stomach, hips, legs, feet, tail?"

Jemima had just about to begin to doze off when Xottie's voice came back in force. Loud and clear. The black calico's lime-green easy opened. They sought out Exotica and once she had focused on her, she kept her eyes on the chocolate queen. Jemima wiggled her toes in the blanket and her fingers, but realized after a moment that Xottie had been expecting a spoken answer not a visual. "I can wiggle ..mmy toes."

"Well that is a good sign. So, other than the little incident you had today, how have you been doing, Jemima? I realize it is a ridiculous question for myself to ask, but I need to keep you awake until Jennyanydots comes and says if you can sleep or not," Exotica said, a little awkwardly, as she felt out of place speaking to Jemima this way, well she would feel this way regardless of who it was. But the chocolate Queen knew that she needed to keep Jemima awake, and she would do that till Jennyanydots arrived. She just worried what else they could talk about until she got there...

Tumblebrutus led the way to Exotica's den. Pulling back the barrier at the doorway, he called quietly, "Jennyanydots is here, Exotica," and then moved aside so that Jenny could go in first. He followed hesitatingly, not going too far in - he told himself it was so Jemima wouldn't be crowded. He waited apprehensively to find out how she was.
