Cat’s Name: Asparagus (but we usually just call him Gus)
Loyalty:Jellicle.
Age:older than dirt ( believed to be 83 but MAY be as old as 93!)
Appearance: Gus has a gray, tan and brindle coat with black stripes shot with flecks of black and rust, which hangs loosely on what was once
an impressive frame for his size. physically he is frail and suffers from ailments such as arthritis, bur sites, and palsy which gives him
atottery gait and limits the usefulness of his paws.
Personality:
a lovable old gent, he is probably one of the most social Jellicles. Gus loves attention, he loves to get it and to give it.
to this day he is still preforming, the stage and the audiences are smaller true, but it is still a stage!
in his youth he was the Tugger of his day, a player with a willing Queen always on the string and usually had two or three mates, all knowing
about each other, at a given time!
much to Jellylorum's disapproval, while not a drunkard he is fond of drink as it eases his pain. he is a social drinker and if he can avoid
t he will not drink alone.
always cleaver his mind is still facile and his memory astounding. he delights in sharing his knowledge and experiences, though keeping him
on track an be a trial, especially if it takes him anywhere near his time on the boards or his opions about the current state of theater!
Background:
the stage. that's where it began and if Gus gets his wish that's where it will end.
Gus was born under the stage of a small East End theater. he watched the human pre formers with utter fascination as he grew up, and followed
the best of them when they moved on. again.and again. and again. in this way he Finlay came to his theater The Grande. from there he convinced
some of his fellow Jeliclles to found a troupe of pre formers, among them was Grizzabella who was one of his first leading ladies.
these were the Palmiest Days to which he so often refers.
he took great pleasure in introducing his fellow Jeliclles to Shakespeare, Ibsen, and the operetta's of Gilbert & Sullivan.
in particular The Pirates of Penzance. while they have played venues throughout London and it's suburbs the troupe always returned to the
Grande. he fashioned his famous Frierforefiddle at this time and preformed as Growltiger as well!
as he aged Gus went on tour less and less instead focusing on the productions at the Grande and in the Yard for the tribe.
it was during this time he sired Romeo, with Rosealie, another of his leading ladies. sadly as with all his mates he
out lived both her and his son as well. (unless someone wants to OC him....)
one of the darkest periods for the family was while he and Romeo were arguing over Romeo's involvement with a showcat who preformed tricks for humans at a carnival.. she however did win Gus
over, and when his Grandchild/ren (again open for OC's or Cannons!) was born she enchanted the old fellow.
he has been a confidant and adviser to Deuteronomy for as long as anyone can remember even before his decline and even after he was no longer
hail and hearty Gus provided advice as to how the disciplined organization of stage craft could be applied to handle crisis situations such
as dangerous weather.
Pairing would like: an understanding pretty young thing would be nice!
Roleplaying Sample:
slowly Gus drew him self up and his eyes widened "and then the music swelled and the follow spot found us, Rosealie and I. she called demurely
from the balcony 'Romeow, oh Romeow. wheare for art thou Romeow?" the old tom began to cough. "ahem, ahem, well my throat is getting a bit
parched how about a little tipple to loosen it up hmmmm?"
How often can you be on?: daily.
