Cat’s Name: Etcetera, Cettie or Etcy for short.
Loyalty: Jellicle
Age: Preteen, around 12.
Family: Mother – Jellylorum [open to changes and additions]
Appearance: Etcetera is a ball of fur, very light grey with stripes of orange, tan, dark grey, and black hectically scattered over her body. She is still very young, and as such, has a very slight frame, with short limbs and the biggest smile you've ever seen. [x] [x]
Personality: Etcetera is energetic, warm, and passionate, and loves to help other cats explore their creative potential. She has a focus on possibilities and a contagious enthusiasm for new ideas, cats, and activities. She is an agile and expressive communicator, using her wit, humor, and developing mastery of language to create engaging stories.
Cettie is curious about others and preoccupied with discovering the deeper meaning in cats and ideas. She wants authentic experiences and seeks emotional intensity. She is easily bored by details and repetition, and seeks out situations that offer an escape from the mundane. Novelty is attractive to her, and she has a wide range of interests and friends. She prizes individuality and considers the pursuit of happiness to be the highest priority in life, both for herself and for others. She places great importance on personal freedom and self-expression, and wants to be able to go wherever inspiration leads.
Cettie loves to talk about other cats: not just the facts, but what motivates them, what inspires them, and what they envision achieving in life. She'll share her own aspirations freely, and wants to hear others' in return. She rarely judges anyone's dreams, and will discuss the most imaginative and outlandish of fantasies with warm, enthusiastic intensity. She loves to explore creative possibilities, and nothing deflates her faster than talking about dry facts or harsh reality. Cettie may seem unconventional, and may come off as scattered. She isn't very in touch with her physical surroundings. She often overlooks the details, as she spends more energy focusing on connecting with other cats or on exploring her own imagination and self-expression. She has little patience for the mundane and wants to experience life with intensity and flair.
History: Unsurprisingly, Etcetera has always been a bit of a steamroller. She was born nearly three weeks early, to her mother's dismay, and has done things on her own schedule since then. She was raised rather collectively by the adults of the Junkyard, and counts nearly all of the Jellicles among her best of friends because of this. Her 'best of best' friend, though, is little Electra, and one of Cettie's first memories is the first time she met the tortoiseshell. She toddled up to the newborn kit in Demeter's arms and, with her tenuous two-year-old kitten grasp on language, declared that they were best friends.
She's done her best since then to spend time with her best friend every day. She probably would have succeeded if not for the illness that had her bedridden for a few weeks when she was younger, around five years old. It was a nasty, though common, bout of the flu. But since she was so young, her mother brought her to humans who she knew would take her to a veterinarian. Once she was cured, the humans decided to keep Cettie as a pet. They tried to keep her indoors at all times, but she ran out so often that they eventually gave up and gave her a collar and a kitty door.
The Rum Tum Tugger winked at Cettie when she was seven years old. There was nothing particularly special about it, no accompanying words or other gestures. But he had winked at her, not any of her friends or even any of the adult queens nearby. In her young mind, it was something very special, indeed. And because she did not yet understand the differences between different kinds of love, she assumed her kitten crush was something much deeper. She immediately set to work idealizing Tugger, and quickly came to the conclusion that they were 'meant to be', and that he would be her mate when she was old enough. Tugger has remained on that pedestal ever since, and she still dreams of the day they can be together.
Roleplaying Sample:
"I just had it, I just had it, where is it?" Cettie chattered to herself, digging through her toy basket with rapt concentration. "Ball, no. Mouse, no. Other ball, no. Purple ball, no. Other mouse, no... Wow, they really need to give me new toys..."
"Sweetie, look, she's talking to herself! Oh, how cute." The human tom crouched down next to her and scratched her behind the ears. Cettie's tail twitched and flicked.
"I am not, I'm just looking for my squirrel!" Cettie replied indignantly. The human only cooed and walked away, and Cettie grumbled. She always forgot they couldn't understand her. And it was so annoying! She finished emptying out her basket, and jumped into it for good measure, but it was clear that her squirrel was nowhere to be found. "Oh, no!" Her blue eyes peeked over the edge of the basket and scanned the room. She needed that squirrel, she'd promised to show it to Electra, and Pouncival didn't believe that she had cool toys at her humans' house, and Victoria had just gotten a new toy, too, and- wait! Her ears perked, and she jumped out of the basket and trotted across the room to drag the stuffed squirrel out from under the couch.
After checking on her humans, then taking the short walk to the Junkyard, Cettie walked up to her friends with the squirrel in her mouth and her head held high with pride. "I fow muh skol!"
