Cat's Name: Tantomile
Loyalty: Jellicle
Age: Adult, around 28
Family: Coricopat is her twin brother.
Appearance:
Tantomile looks like clouds passing over moonlight, with her unique coat of smokey greys, inky blacks, milky whites, and rusty browns. Her figure is long and lithe and almost otherwordly in its skeletal elegance. Her oval-shaped face is decorated with high cheekbones and a smooth, sloping jawline. Her brown eyes, so dark that they appear black, are almond shaped and heavily lidded, and her lips have a permanent lilt to them, giving a constant smile of one who knows something others do not.
Personality:
Tantomile is logical, analytical, and reasonable to the core. She is focused inward, approaching life by analyzing the theory behind what she sees, and is finds little purpose in the unpredictable nature of other people and their emotions. She is drawn to what is logical and is very talented at seeing possibilities for improvement. Though she understands the need others have for a sesne of community, she prefers to remain independent, and mainly associates with people she finds intellectually stimulating or beneficial. She sets herself apart from the Tribe, and even from her brother. She considers most others to be unnecessary.
To Tantomile, the world is a chess board to be navigated, and she is perceptive enough about systems and strategies to navigate it. She sees logical outcomes in any situation, and enjoys applying herself in these settings to achieve a goal. She strives constantly to improve herself and prove her competence. She is very much a perfectionist and has high standards for herself, though she does not hold others to the same standards.
Reserved and serious, any outsider could see that Tantomile spends a lot of time thinking. She thoroughly examines any information she receives and, if asked a question, spends much time considering it before presenting a careful answer. She can be blunt in her presentation, and does not often stop to consider the feelings of others when communication.
Background:
Tantomile and her brother were born in the center of the Junkyard to a Jellicle queen named Rhaella. Her mother often told her that she was blessed with her Everlasting powers from birth, and that she and her brother were born in the light of a full moon during a storm. Tantomile herself did not have a strong grasp on her powers until she fell very ill in her youth, an illness that had her bedridden and feverish for weeks. She has never been able to remember what she had seen during those weeks, though her mother told her how she had mumbled about the Everlasting Cat and a 'shining monster'.
Dreams of a shining monster plagued her after she had recovered. She could not see clearly what it was, but she knew she did not want to see it. Things changed when it finally became clear. One of those contraptions humans used for travel. A car, she believed it was called. And her mother. And a collision, pain, tears, terror. Her mother asked about the development of her gift frequently, but she did not want to tell her what she'd seen in this particular dream.
Her life changed when the dream came true. She had been there when it happened, and sat alone with her mother as she died. She did not sleep for days after that. She thought, maybe if she had told somebody, maybe it could have been stopped. And she vowed never to make that mistake again. So when she had another dream of a young streetcat and a Pollicle, she went straight to Old Deuteronomy. She was there for that as well, making sure that the Jellicle protectors stopped it from happening. And she watched the young tom die.
It did not take long for her to realize that none of it could be changed. Many of the more superstitious Jellicles began to avoid her after that, believing that she was the cause. She learned to keep quiet, to watch and learn, and seek answers by herself. As she grew older, the visions started to become more clear, and then started to come to her at all hours of the day. Eventually, she stopped seeing visions at all. One moment, she would be speaking with her brother, and the next, she would simply know.
To this day, she does not understand where this knowledge comes from, or how to access it herself. It comes to her as it will, and leaves her with no further explanation. She does what she can to assist the Tribe, but she is embarrassed by her lack of control over it and keeps quiet about it more often than not.
Powers:
Tantomile is psychic. Or, more specifically, she is claircognizant. She acquires knowledge of future events without knowing how or why she knows it. The knowledge is intrinsic, it simply appears in her mind. Her most common sentence, practically her catchphrase, is “I don't know how I know this”. Her mother believed that the Everlasting Cat gave her her powers, and her knowledge comes directly from Him. She learned how to write through these powers, and often writes pages and pages of information without realizing that she'd ever laid paw on a piece of paper.
Her powers most commonly come through in the form of information on future events, though she can often tell if people are lying. It does weaken her greatly, leaving her painfully breathless and suffering from migraines. She sometimes passes out entirely, depending on the breadth of information. And of course, she typically has little understanding of what she knows and is entirely unable to explain herself, leaving her and others frustrated.
Birch is her weakness, though she doesn't know this. If she is touching or surrounded by birch, visions will not come to her.
Pairing you would like: Any.
Roleplaying Sample:
Tantomile's vision blurred as she came to. She pressed a paw to her forehead in concentration, and to ward off the quickly growing migraine. A quick look around told her she was still atop the pile overlooking the center of the Junkyard. She quickly confirmed that nobody could see her from her position. Good. As silently as a shadow, she slid into a gap between a legless office chair and half of a chalkboard, relishing the cool darkness.
As she ruminated on what she knew, her heart filled with dread. Macavity would come. And there would be red skies, then sparks, then darkness. Her gaze rested on the exposed stuffing of the chair and she furrowed her brow. It was hard to think with the knives in her head. When would Macavity come, and why? He had a past with the Jellicles, that much she knew. If she knew what it was, if she knew anything about him, maybe she could make more sense of this.
Ignoring the almost blinding pain of the sun on her eyes, she pulled herself out of the gap and climbed down the pile. Old Deuteronomy would have answers about Macavity. And with any luck, he would not ask why she was curious. She did not want to try to explain what she knew, as her lack of understanding was likely to cause frustration.
Besides, with the Jellicle Ball mere days away, there was little time to waste.
How often can you be on?: Daily.
Password: Rice pudding and mutton and all that jazz.
Comments: I hope her weaknesses are sufficient, I was having trouble with that aspect. It's also tough to come up with a history without treading on the toes of any future Coricopat RPer, so I hope that is okay as well. Let me know if there's anything you think I should change/add.
