the lovely brown queen gave a soft smile thinking, 'Jerrie really is so considerate and so sweet.' then aloud Cassandra said aloud in a soft voice,
"I don't mind telling the Tribe about it, especially if Macavity and his henchmen are about. it did not even occur to me to tell about it as there are so many little ways opening and closing all the time."
then her eyes dropped and her ears dipped slightly, "you do not suppose that this was how they got in during the ball?" Cassandra asked in a small guilty voice.

Mungojerrie nodded. Then, catching her tone, he hastened to add, "But it ain't yer fault, don't think so for a moment, Miss Cassie. The 'umans made this spot, not yew; any'un could've found it at any time." He didn't want her to worry and get caught up in blaming herself for something that was beyond her control. "An' like y'said, why would it occur to any'un to tell about something that's such a regular occurrence? Now we realize, an' we will tell, but don' worry yer 'ead about wot's already in the past."

"who should we tell? I have not seen either Munkustrap or...Alonzo since the Ball.
do you know where to find them?" she asked. her tail brushed up against his lightly. "would they be in the city?"

Mungojerrie thought for a moment. "Well... Oi'm thinkin' at least one of 'em 'as recently been on patrol. Munk'tap is very careful to make sure there're regular shifts to ensure everythin's safe. An' if wot Cettie an' Jemima were sayin's true - about the to-do over by the gate - then Alonzo or Munk surely would've gone to 'elp. My guess is they're still somewhere in the yahd, doubtless talkin' over how ta increase the safety precautions."

Cassandras rounded ears perked, "then let us go and find them!" she said with a bright smile turning back toward the Yard. "as a Hunter and Provider I am sure that you would know the routes that they would be patrrrroling," she added with a
purr glancing over she shoulder at Jerrie as the moonlight outlined her sleek brown and grey form. "and afterwords if you would be kind enough to take me I will show you my Humans home."

Mungojerrie nodded. "Aye, let's. Oi'm sure we c'n find 'em soon wifout too much trouble." At her invitation to visit her humans' home, he gave a nervous little chuckle. "Er, well, thank yew fer the...kind offer. I'll be happy ta see yer other 'ome, if'n Munk an' Lonz' don't need me ta do anyfing pressing 'round the yahd." Then, beckoning to her, he led the way to search for the two protectors.
((They're over in To Get the Queen...well, Alonzo is; Munk just left to 'escort' two hench queens out of the 'yard. I could exit Alonzo from that thread soon and bring him over here if you like, so Jerrie and Cass can inform him of the secret entrance. Or Cass and Jerrie can pop over to that thread. Either way.))

as she did so Cassandra could not help but notice that the night did not seem as chilly as it had before they had started their walk.
