the early afternoon shadows were growing longer in the area behind The Lark and Rose creeping along the brickwork and onto the aged cobblestones while the old battered tom sat enjoying the sun before the nights rush. the breeze rustled the paper near the Pubs dumpster and Stubinz listened to the sounds of the city. the first patrons would be arriving soon.

Keiiji's caramel eyes observed Stubinz for a few moments. He stood in the shadows of the building just beside the pub. His darker coloring helped a bit, but Keiiji had long ago learned the skill of stealth. Old habits and all. Keiiji had to shake his head and remind himself that he wasn't on a job. He was just a jellicle tom out for a walk. Still, he couldn't help but to move through the shadows. He emerged from the shadows, seconds later, behind and beside Stubinz. "Business been kind to you, Stu'?" Keiiji asked solemnly, through the sash tied around his mouth. He was oddly pleased that his bandages that were tied around different parts of his body were blowing in the breeze. Though his eyes stayed out in front of him, and didn't reveal his inner musings.

the battered old tom smiled at the tall strongly built tom, "It has that it has, and ah see that ya are still lookin ta beat out me for tha number a scars," he said in his rich brogue. then Stubinz shook his head "wi all those bandages ya look like a taibhse come creepin outa tha crypt lad! come inside an we'll get a drop or two in ya ey?" he said getting to his paws.

Keiiji, who had been looking out at the city and away from Stubby and his pub, slowly moved his head to gaze down at the older tom. He observed one of the lucky few whose seen him without his coverings on. "Was going for a ninja." His statement, from any one else, may have been humorous. However, from Kei, it was hard to tell if he was going for a joke, or if he was being serious. Closing his eyes briefly, he finally nodded. "Lead the way, Stu'."

the battered old tom indeed led the way into the cats area of the pub. to most eyes it would have looked like simply a well kept, if little visited, store room. but to the feline eye they saw the ways things had been rearranged for their comfort from the lounging couches to the private booths. along one wall was a Bartop complete with working taps on the other wall was an opening that led to both Stubinz's den and the human pub. "belly up ta tha bar me lad!" the old tom said as he lit the lights.

Keiiji followed Stubinz into the pub, looking around at the empty space with a critical eye. Inwardly looking for the usual exits, before sitting down near Stubby. "Same as I remember." He spoke, eyes still focused on the different objects around. He was recalling the last time he sat in the pub, about a year and a half ago.

The old coal chute, huh? His eyes were glued to the corner, where Stubinz had pointed. A liability for anyone who knew, but his natural cat curiosity did pique his interest in exploring the old chute. But he'd refrain for now. He agreed to join Stubby, to him that was a commitment to catch up. Keiiji's paws were on the tabletop, and he titled his head, still taking in his surroundings, and allowing the senses to take him back. Surprisingly, aside from Axel's place, and his own place after he broke away from Axel; The Lark and Rose was the only other place he spent a majority of his time at. Even now, at the junkyard, it felt more like he was only there at night to sleep, and then gone the next morning. "Bitters." Keiiji reflexively spoke. "And what is this mug going to cost me, Stu'?" Keiiji spoke, treating it like everyday business.

the old tom's notched ear twitched in amusement as he carefully set a jelly jar under one of the spigots and worked the tap filling it with a frothy almost black liquid. he set it before the younger tom and poured a Buttermilk for himself before replying. "well we're well set on foodstuff's, so ifin ya got a bit of somethin ta make tha strays comfy twould be nice or a bit of news perchance ey?" Stubinz said with a wink, "nothin about yer ownself of course."

Keiiji's eyes stayed on the mug set before him, for a few seconds. His fingers slowly slid his sash down from his mouth to hang loosely around his neck. The tips of two of his fingers traced the rim of the mug, before gripping it in his paw and taking a swig for himself. Placing the mug back onto the tabletop, he looked over to Stubinz. He nodded, Stubby knew he'd have more luck teaching a fish to fly then getting dirt on Keiiji. "Tell me what objects you need, and I'll procure them within the week." He paused long enough to take another sip from his mug. "Did I hear right? A Bata. That'll cost a bit." It was a statement that he said neutrally.

the battered old tom chuckled "actually my Lad think of it as an investment so tha ya twill be better able to protect the Tribe. service that ya don' get enough credit fer by my lights!" Stubinz said and taking a sip of his buttermilk as he leaned back in his seat. "ah twill give tha list due consideration." he added thoughtfully.

Keiiji considered his words carefully. He rarely had to accept gifts, for he rarely received them. However, he could see the benefits to such a weapon. And he knew it wouldn't be hard to create an over the shoulder holster for the Bata stick. It would rest easily against his back if he created the strap right, or acquired one. There was another reason why he nodded his acceptance of Stubinz thoughtful gift, he didn't want to offend the tom for refusing. "I don't require credit." Despite his emotionless voice, the tone still sounded heavier then normal. "I prefer the darkness."
Even though his statement was true, it was more accurate to say he couldn't imagine himself becoming anything worthy; seeing himself in the hero or spotlight role was not something he believed he could adapt to. No staying behind scenes was his role, and he excelled at it. Taking another sip, he let his facial features relax. Just about the only 'emotional' thing he allowed himself to show openly. "Let me know Stu'. I have some contacts for several different items." He was always happy to help Stubinz. Stubby allowed Keiiji to work his business, even business he knew was most likely illegal without any questions asked. In return, Keiiji was more then happy, ...inwardly, to do any favor Stu' needed. Either for himself or for his pub.

the battered old tom nodded slowly,"Ah know Lad but tis gallin sometimes ta see others well their reputations jumped up when AH know different ey" he said in a gentle voice. then after a moment or two of thought and another pull on his buttermilk Stubinz said, "but tis na ma place ta say. winter comin so blankets as more strays twill be spendin tha night in tha flops down by tha boiler room. actually ifin ya would like tatake a look at tha coal chute ya might like tha old coal bin yerself ifin ya find tha need"

Keiiji made a small shrug of his shoulders. Being taught not to really show his emotions, he had no way of really letting others he was close to being friendly with how he felt. The shrug of his shoulders was one of a few gestures that he'd allow himself to show. "Credit is not something I value. The benefits and rewards I get for helping further the lives of others is worth it." Nodding along, Keiiji traced the mug, idly with one of his fingers. "I can get you about a dozen blankets, perhaps more if you don't mind the quality...on short notice." His caramel eyes looked over toward the coal chute. "The need, for?" Keiiji asked silently.

Stubinz gave a shrug "fortune favor tha prepared Lad."
