Demeter couldn't lie - she was incredibly pleased with herself when her stunt worked. There was still some spark of the fieriness of her youth in her, after all. She gave the tom's ear a final tug before dropping it and stepping back, satisfied. She turned to address Gilbert, to tell him to head back to the Junkyard with her, when a voice interrupted them. She looked up and her blood ran cold.
The roses... She felt sick to her stomach. There weren't many cats who would give her roses. And there was only one who would send someone else to deliver them. "Who sent you?" she asked, her guarded voice barely above a whisper. In the blink of an eye, Gilbert and the small tom were gone to her, and all she saw were the bulky cat and the roses.

the massive tom blinked at Tsume "sorry T not yet it's Business." he said. then he looked down at the lovely golden queen and he could not fault Tsume's taste but messing with the Boss'es squeeze? "Macavity ma'mam and he had somthing he wanted me to say, out of some old song it was..." he said to Demeter his face clouding as he visibly worked to remember the his face lit up with joy and he sang "Oh can't you see You belong to me How my poor heart aches With every step you take
Every move you make And every vow you break Every smile you fake, every claim you stake I'll be watching you"

A look of pure shock and fear hit Tsume's features when Manfred mentioned Macavity. "Hold up Man, are you sayin she's Boss's queen?!" He purposely stepped away from her like she has leprosy or something of the sort. "I had no idea! T..There'd be no reason to tell him, right? I mean it's not like I did anything anyway, I was just fighting that big baka" he gestured to Gilbert as he was nervously talking a mile a minute as he tried to plead with the other Hench to keep quiet. "She's the one who stepped up to me." As much of a reckless moron Tsume appeared to be, he at least knew not to start trouble with his boss, Macavity or mess with anything he claimed as his own.

Gilbert could sense the distress coming from Demeter, and made it more obvious to shield her with his own body. Macavity, just great. They were henches. The last time any of them had approached them, they had tried to recruit him. If this was how they conducted business, Gilbert was sure he wanted no part of their operation. His upper lip peeled back into a snarl. With his paw, he angrily knocked the flowers out of Manfred's grip. "Why don't you shove those flowers up your rear-end where they belong? Then march back to Macavity with our response. You can even sing him a little ditty, if your heart desires. Let me think of one..." The obstinate tom scowled slightly, "Ah perfect, sing this back to your boss:
You think you know me But you don't know me You think you own me But you can't control me
You look at me And there's just one thing that you see." His singing wasn't the greatest, but he trusted the message got across. Turning back to Demeter, his scowl disappeared and he spoke. "Come on Demeter, we should head back to the junkyard."

Demeter's throat closed up so quickly she felt as if she might faint. She heard the smaller tom speak, but barely. Like she was underwater. "I'm not-" Her voice was the faintest of whispers. He had been watching her. She knew she wasn't crazy. She found little relief in the fact.
She realized jarringly that Gilbert was saying something to her. Her eyes were instantly glued to the roses now scattered on the ground. Yellow, red... black... The realization hit her like a Pollicle. She looked up at Gilbert with half-crazed eyes. "Elec-" She didn't dare finish the word, lest the bulky Hench repeat it to his boss. In her heart, she knew that Macavity must know about... But if he didn't...

the massive tom tilted his head slowly and blinked ay Gilbert, "sorry sport the Boss's were clear give the flowers to her and give her the message. didn't say anything at all about bringing back a reply. but if you want I could bring YOU back and you can tell him!" Manfredd said then he added to Tsume " the way I see it T you just helped me find her." Manfredd turned and started to walk off then he stopped and looked back at Gilbert "We done sport or do you really want to make something of this?" his rounded ears dipped and he said to Demeter "sorry to upset you Ma'mam but Business is Business."

"I guess you could say I did." Tsume said with a nod to Manfred, relieved that he wasn't about to get in trouble and turned his attention to Gilbert. He narrowed his eyes at the larger Tom. "You really are a baka to even think of disrespecting Macavity like that. If you think my claws are sharp, then you don't want to even think of the pain he would inflict on you." Macavity was the only cat he actually respected and maybe that's because he was the only one who saw potential in him instead of looking at him like some useless runt.

Gilbert's eyes narrowed, distinctly aware that Demeter was, well not herself. "I don't even suggest you try to take me to your boss." He would not go quietly. They'd have to knock him out and drag his butt back to the ginger tom. Gilbert was a tom who didn't like being told what to do. As Tsume's concern over him disrespecting Macavity, he simply rolled his eyes and shrugged. His attitude clearly stating he didn't give a piss.

Demeter didn't hear any of them anymore. Her vision was swirling and swarming, and she took a few stumbling steps backwards until her back hit a building wall. It was over, it was supposed to have been over. They'd all said that she was safe. That her daughter was safe. She remembered what Munkustrap had said, that exhausting night that Electra had been born. He had promised.
"Gilbert," she called breathlessly. She was barely aware of how quiet her voice was. She had to get back to the Junkyard. She had to check on Electra.

Manfredd gave a shrug of his broad shoulders and continued to walk off then the massive tom paused at the corner, "you coming T? I'm getting a nice bit of something for this an I'm willing to share or you still got personal business?" he asked Tsume. it was all the same to Manfredd he had a nice salmon steak waiting for him at the Warehouse. Tsume turned to look at Mannfred. "Yeah I'll join you, I got what I wanted anyway." he grinned as he glanced down at his paws and retracted his blood stained claws. He began to follow after Manfred but turned to look over his shoulder. "Hey you better go get that scratch looked at, my bad boy scarred look doesn't work on your prissy Jellicle face." he called out to Gilbert before turning to catch up with Manfred. (EXIT TSUME)

Gilbert watched with anger as the two toms turned away and began to leave. Hearing Demeter's soft voice calling out to him,, he turned and gave her a critical eye. "Dem-...Shit." He came close to her and flinched away just before he touched her. "Demeter!" He spoke more loudly,"Come on, lets get you back to the junkyard." A pause, and then he spoke again. "And fast."

The sound of her name drew her hollow gaze up to meet Gilbert's eyes, but Demeter hardly saw him. She had to get back to the Junkyard. She pushed herself off the wall uneasily, barely trusting her paws to hold her up. "I have to..." Unsteady steps turned steady. Suddenly she was a black and yellow flash, darting toward the Junkyard, not caring whether Gilbert was following or not.

Gilbert didn't know why he cared. He shouldn't! He was surviving just fine on his own without really interacting with the other jellicles. And yet, he had just stood his ground against two henches to protect Demeter. Not that she noticed. However, watching her run back to the junkyard, Gil knew he had to follow after her. At least to make sure she got back to the yard safely. His eyes looked back once more to make sure neither hench were coming back, and then set off to follow Demeter.
